McAlpine's solicitor: 'No choice' over legal action
Andrew Reid, the solicitor representing Lord McAlpine, has said his client has "no choice" but to take legal action after claims linking the Conservative peer to alleged historical child abuse.
Lord McAlpine has said the claims are "wholly false and seriously defamatory".
Lord McAlpine made the denial after former Bryn Estyn resident Steve Messham claimed on the BBC's Newsnight that he had been abused by a senior politician of the Thatcher era, who was not named.
Mr Reid told the BBC that Lord McAlpine will come to the UK to "see the police" but no formal complaint against him had been made.
