2011 census: The changing face of London
The number of foreign-born residents in England and Wales has risen by nearly three million since 2001 to 7.5 million people, according to figures from the 2011 census.
London had both the largest proportion of usual residents born outside the UK (37%) and non-UK nationals (24%).
The BBC's Home Editor Mark Easton has been to Newham, east London, where he says "probably one person in six will define themselves as White British".
