Spurs fans attacked by masked men, landlord says

The landlord of a pub in the French city of Lyon where Tottenham Hotspur fans were attacked on the eve of their side's Europa League tie has spoken about the incident.

David Eales described the moment "25 to 40" masked men smashed through the reinforced glass of the doors and started throwing projectiles at the Spurs fans.

Spurs fans retaliated but Mr Eales praised their response. Three supporters were taken to hospital and more fans were hurt by flying glass.

Mr Eales said he knew who the attackers were, and that "the potential for trouble had always been there."
