Archbishop of Canterbury: Love people as they are

The new Archbishop of Canterbury has denied that the Church of England is willing to turn a blind eye over gay marriage while saying there is a difference between ideals and pastoral practice.

Speaking ahead of his enthronement on Thursday, Justin Welby said that it was important that people could be treated as equals without being the same.

In an interview with the BBC's Religious Affairs Correspondent Robert Pigott, the archbishop also addressed the issue of declining congregations and the importance of voluntary work.
