BBC weather presenter hears how cold snap is affecting farmers
The Ministry of Defence has sent a second RAF Chinook helicopter to help farmers struggling with a blanket of deep snow which has claimed thousands of livestock.
Communities across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and England say cattle and sheep have frozen to death or were buried in deep drifts.
Some say it is the worst weather during lambing season in living memory.
