'Bulger images' must be protected says Attorney General

Two men have been given suspended jail sentences for posting pictures on social networking websites which claimed to show the killers of two-year-old James Bulger.

Dean Liddle and Neil Harkins admitted knowing there was an injunction banning the publication of images of Jon Venables and Robert Thompson, who were given new identities after their release from prison in 2001.

The Attorney General Dominic Grieve who brought the legal action said people needed to understand that laws on contempt of court apply to sites like Twitter and Facebook.
