Drivers warned over danger of stopping on hard shoulder
Motorists are being reminded of the dangers of stopping on the hard shoulder of motorways.
It comes as research suggests more than 800 people a year have been killed or injured in such incidents since 2000.
BBC Breakfast spoke to drivers at a service station and Tracey Hepworth whose fiancé was killed in a collision on the hard shoulder on the M62 in 1998.
Ms Hepworth said drivers should only use the lane in an emergency and that no-one should remain in the vehicle once it has been parked.
