Lawrence family barrister: 'The family are shocked'

A barrister who represented the family of murdered black teenager Stephen Lawrence has said they are "shocked" at claims the police wanted to smear them.

It follows allegations, external in the Guardian newspaper that former officer Peter Francis went undercover to infiltrate the family's campaign for justice in 1993.

Speaking to the BBC, Matthew Ryder QC said, "There has been a lot of support for the family in public, what was going on in private?"
