Scotland confirms bag charge plan

As the Scottish government confirms the introduction of a 5p charge on plastic bags from October 2014, the only place in the UK with no such scheme is England.

Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Wales all charge for carrier bags. The Welsh government says the number taken in food stores has dropped by up to 96% since charging was brought in.
