The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that three convicted murderers who were given whole life tariffs by British courts are entitled to have their sentences reviewed.

Jeremy Bamber, Peter Moore and Douglas Vinter argued that being denied any prospect of release amounted to "inhuman and degrading" treatment.

Vinter's lawyer Simon Creighton said: "For my client, for anyone with this type of sentence it will give them some incentive to work on their offending and to moderate their behaviour."
