British soldiers 'punched and kicked' unarmed detainees

An inquiry is examining claims that British troops mistreated and killed more that 20 detainees in Iraq.

A former soldier has told the Al-Sweady inquiry that he saw three former colleagues "repeatedly punch and kick an unarmed detainee". He also said his Platoon Sergeant put a "full magazine of bullets" into two twitching bodies.

Andrew Verity reports from outside the court.
