Politicians 'reject' press plan for regulation

Senior politicians have rejected newspapers' press regulation plans, BBC Newsnight has reported.

A sub-committee of the Privy Council, containing four Lib Dem and four Tory cabinet ministers, thought the proposals were "flawed".

Media commentator Steve Hewlett says the decision looks set to spark major confrontation between the two sides of a complex and fractious argument.
