House sharing among over 40s increases

Record high rents are forcing growing numbers of older professionals to move into shared houses.

According Easyroommate.com, men between the ages of 45 and 54 were the fastest growing group of house sharers, with many being priced out of owning their own homes.

47-year-old father of one Christopher Thompson "lost everything" in his divorce, and struggled to adjust back to house sharing.

Mr Thompson told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "It is difficult... you can shout at the family to clean up after themselves but when it's strangers you're a lot more limited."
