Rail worker talked boy out of taking his own life

In the last six months 313 people have been stopped from trying to commit suicide on British railways, according to Network Rail figures given exclusively to BBC Radio 5 live.

East Coast Trains worker Sharon Willett, was one of 5,000 rail staff who took part in the Samaritan's programme, which helped her to talk a 15-year-old boy out of taking his own life.

Ms Willett told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire: "I thought that I may just go make sure he was okay as all the signs were there that he was quite distressed."
