Horsemeat 'used for medical research then sold for consumption'

21 people have been arrested in connection with claims that horsemeat used for medical research was sold illegally for consumption.

Although eating horsemeat in France is common, under French law, any animal subject to medical testing can not then be sold to be eaten by humans.
