Brownie centenary: Recalling 1940s movement

This year marks the centenary of the Brownies, formed by Lord Baden-Powell as girls sought their own version of the Scouts.

They were originally called the Rosebuds - a name that did not survive long - and today members earn badges for activities like crime prevention and science investigation.

Jenny Hill met Ann Philips, who joined the Brownies in the 1940s and has been involved with the movement ever since.
