Richard Hammond can 'relate' to Schumacher injury

Richard Hammond says he can 'relate' to Michael Schumacher - as he sustained similar injuries in 2006.

The Top Gear presenter suffered severe head injuries and was put in an induced coma after a high-speed car crash.

It comes as Schumacher's fans mark the F1 champion's 45th birthday with a silent bedside vigil.

Hammond told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "Coming out of a coma with a brain injury... is a tremendously difficult thing to accept and get on with - all of which lies ahead for Michael."
