Jobless who refuse courses 'could forfeit benefits,' says Labour

Shadow work and pensions secretary Rachel Reeves says unemployed people who lack basic English, maths and computing skills will be stripped of benefits unless they take up training.

Under the plans, all new claimants of Jobseeker's Allowance would have to sit a basic skills test within six weeks.

The Conservatives have accused her of copying their policies on skills but Rachel Reeves told the BBC that Labour's plan covered more people.
