Whole-life sentence appeals begin

Five senior judges are to hear a series of appeals about whether convicted murderers can be imprisoned without the possibility of release.

Whole-life tariffs are currently reserved for exceptionally serious offences - but last year the European Court of Human Rights ruled that prisoners must have the possibility of their sentences being reviewed.
