Car swallowed by 30ft sinkhole in Buckinghamshire

A sinkhole 30ft (9m) deep has opened up on the driveway of a house near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, swallowing a woman's car.

Nobody was inside the vehicle when the ground gave way. The vehicle is still at the bottom covered in rubble.

Phil Conran, stepfather of Zoe Smith, who owns the vehicle, said he first knew there was something wrong when he heard a ''piercing scream'' and the words ''my car, my car, it's gone''.

The local council is now investigating why the sinkhole appeared.
