UK floods: Further severe weather across UK

As Environment Agency chairman Lord Smith and Prime Minister David Cameron visited Somerset to see the flood damage, parts of the UK are braced for more heavy rain.

There are more than 140 flood warnings across England and Wales, and more than 300 flood alerts, while the Scottish Environment Protection Agency issued a flood alert for Tayside.

On Thursday, the government pledged an extra £30m for flood repairs and maintenance this year alone, on top of £100m previously announced to be spent next year.
