Hacking trial: Rebekah Brooks 'did not know hacking was illegal'
The former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks has told the Old Bailey that she did not know phone hacking was illegal when she was in charge of the paper and that she never sanctioned it.
Mrs Brooks said she was not aware of a request by a journalist to illegally access the voicemails of the missing schoolgirl Milly Dowler in 2002.
She told the jury that the first time she heard the phone had been hacked was in 2011.
