Whistleblower James Patrick 'had no future in police force'

A police whistleblower who raised concerns about the Metropolitan Police's crime statistics, resigned because he had "no future" in the force.

PC James Patrick had said crime figures were manipulated and sexual offences were being under-reported by 22-25%.

He told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire: "The system is completely defective, it permits this behaviour and in some cases encourages this behaviour... It puts reputation before the truth."

The Met Police said they were open to criticism but had a duty to protect staff and the public from unwarranted criticism and to maintain public confidence in the police service.
