Army 'failing to combat sexism' towards female soldiers

The Army is failing to combat disturbing and violent sexism, Radio 4's Today programme has heard.

One female soldier, who asked to remain anonymous, told reporter Sima Kotecha that during her time in the Army "no-one would bat an eyelid" at sexist comments being made.

Defence Select Committee member Madeleine Moon stated that female soldiers are often afraid to come forward over sexist abuse due to the worry it could "affect their career".

The Ministry of Defence says it has a zero tolerance approach towards bullying and harassment, and that it promotes diversity at all levels.
