City fathers group calls for better paternity rights

A group which supports City worker parents has claimed that a "cultural change" is needed to allow men to take their full parental leave.

A survey by Cityfathers found that a quarter of their members took little or no paternity leave, with many fearing it would have a negative impact on their career chances.

Louisa Symington-Mills, who founded the group, said employers needed to change attitudes to paternity leave "from the top down."

She told BBC Radio 5 live's Wake Up to Money: "Unless employers help paternity entitlements and make it a little bit more attractive that it is currently, you're unlikely to see significant take-up."
