New scheme for vulnerable witnesses to give pre-recorded evidence

Victims of crime and vulnerable witnesses will be able to give pre-recorded evidence in court from Monday, as part of a pilot scheme.

The Justice Minister Damian Green says the measures are aimed at making the process less traumatic.

The pilot will run in Leeds, Liverpool and Kingston-upon-Thames, with the intention of rolling it out more widely.
