Terry Waite on life after captivity

Terry Waite, who was held hostage for nearly five years in Lebanon, has said that the US soldier Bowe Bergdahl - held for five years by the Taliban - could be helped by telling his story to a trained listener.

Speaking on the Today programme, Mr Waite said that coming to terms with freedom is "a strange process".

"It took about 12 months before I really was beginning to get back into the world properly," he told presenter Evan Davis.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday 2 June.
