Child abuse image arrests: 'We can police the internet'

A six-month operation targeting people accessing child abuse images online "demonstrates that we can police the internet", says Assistant Chief Constable Nikki Holland from South Wales Police.

More than 650 suspected paedophiles have been arrested nationally, with Ms Holland's force making 51 including a retired police officer, a foster carer and a scout leader.

Assistant Chief Constable Holland told BBC News the investigation would also send a message to deter would-be offenders: "We are there, visibly policing the internet and you will be caught so don't even try."
