Disturbance at 'crisis' prison HMP Ranby

Dozens of prisoners have been involved in a disturbance at a Nottinghamshire prison.

The Prison Officers' Association said it began when 120 inmates on one wing at HMP Ranby had refused to return to their cells.

However, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) said 30 to 60 prisoners had been involved in the incident, which began at 12:00 BST and lasted into Saturday evening.

There had been "minor damage" but no injuries, the MoJ said. The jail was criticised in a report this week for high levels of violence.

Alison Freeman reports from HMP Ranby.
