How different was a WW1 kit from that of the modern day?

In August commemorations will begin across Britain and Europe to mark 100 years since the start of the First World War.

Over two million soldiers passed through Winchester to prepare for their journey to the frontline between 1914 and 1918.

The BBC's Robert Hall is travelling the route that British soldiers would have taken before leaving for France and Belgium, and he visited the city in Hampshire to compare life as a soldier then and now.
