Why is stand up paddle boarding so popular?

A decade ago most of us had never heard of stand up paddle boarding, but now it is a common sight at beaches around the UK.

In September the country's top paddle boarders will compete at the National Watersports Festival off Hayling Island, but there is a chance for spectators to take part too.

Mike Bushell has been to the beach in Dorset to try it out for himself.
