Controversy over charity's pony meat plan for Dartmoor

A charity has developed a range of meat products made from the iconic Dartmoor hill Pony, in what it says is a bid to save the species.

Dartmoor Hill Pony Association says creating a market for their meat is a last resort to ensure the breed's survival.

Numbers have dropped from about 30,000 at the beginning of the century to just 1,500 in 2011.

However, critics say the plan is unnecessary, and will put people off visiting the moors.
