Failing to control the spread of Japanese Knotweed could now result in an anti-social behaviour order, and a fine of up to £2500.
The plant famous for driving wedges between pavements, as well as harmonious neighbourly relations, is one of the most destructive plants in the UK.
But scientists are hoping a small insect may help to bring it under control, as John Maguire reports.
