Memories of Sir Winston Churchill

On 30 January 1965, the United Kingdom bid a solemn farewell to wartime leader Sir Winston Churchill.

In a ceremony watched by millions around the world, the former prime minister's coffin was taken on a procession through central London to a ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral.

Part of that journey will be recreated on Friday, as people gather to remember and reflect on Churchill's legacy.

BBC News looks back at the day of the funeral and Churchill's place in history.
