Michelangelo: Bronze sculptures may be by Renaissance artist

Academics at Cambridge University think they have found the answer to a mystery that has been baffling the art world for more than 100 years.

Piecing together visual, technical and anatomical evidence, academics have dated two bronze statues between 1506 - 1508 and believe them to be the work of Italian Renaissance artist, Michelangelo.

If proved correct, the statues would become the only surviving bronze statues by Michelangelo in the world.

Will Gompertz reports.
