Ex-PFA chairman Clarke Carlisle reveals suicide attempt

The former head of the Professional Footballers' Association has been speaking about how he tried to take his own life.

Clarke Carlisle spent six weeks in hospital after being hit by a lorry near York in December.

He suffered cuts, bruises, internal bleeding, a broken rib and shattered left knee. He was later admitted to psychiatric unit.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I missed a sense of belonging, a sense of worth and value in life."
