BBC documentary explores what drives people to suicide

Every year in the UK, around 6,000 people will take their own lives, of whom three quarters will be men.

Angela Samata's partner killed himself 11 years ago. Now she has travelled around the country to meet the family and friends of other people who have lost someone to suicide for a BBC One documentary.

Angela joined Professor Rory O'Connor on BBC Breakfast to talk about the programme, and explained how making it had helped her understand more about why her partner had taken his own life.

Life After Suicide will be shown on BBC One on Tuesday 17 March at 22:45 GMT.
