Titanic deckchair from first-class deck up for auction

One of a handful of deckchairs recovered from the Titanic could fetch more than £80,000 when it goes under the hammer in Wiltshire.

The Nantucket wooden chair was on the first-class promenade deck of the liner when it sank in 1912.

The chair, which is too delicate to sit on but which has been carefully preserved, was picked up by the crew of one of the rescue boats sent to the scene after the Titanic sank.

Duncan Kennedy reports.
