Lord Janner will not face child sex abuse charges, CPS says

The Director of Public Prosecutions says the Labour peer Lord Janner will not face charges of historical sex abuse, because of the severity of the dementia he suffers from.

Alison Saunders said that despite sufficient evidence gathered over two years, it would not be in the public interest to bring charges.

In the past, the former MP, who is now 86, has always denied allegations of abuse.

Tom Symonds reports.
