Palace maintenance: 'Bits of the building keep falling off'

Former Royal Press Secretary Dickie Arbiter has described the maintenance required at Buckingham Palace and said "bits of the building keep falling off".

The Queen may have to move out of her official London home to allow maintenance work costing £150m to be carried out. Mr Arbiter said that Windsor Castle could become "a very good base".

It is one option being considered by the royal household, which says the upkeep of the London palace is now a "significant financial challenge".
