Plane uses lasers to test for ash volcanic clouds

It has been five years since millions of travellers had flights cancelled after a volcano erupted in Iceland that spewed ash across Europe.

This week, airlines cancelled flights to five Indonesian airports, including Bali, because of an eruption on Java.

To ensure disruption is avoided in the future, the Government has given the go-ahead to a new network of radars and sensors - aimed at keeping the travel network running.
