Green Deal funding to end, government announces

Funding for the government's flagship "Green Deal" home energy efficiency programme is to be scrapped because, the government says, too few people taking it up.

The scheme allowed people to make energy improvements to their homes, such as insulation and double-glazing, and then pay for them from the savings on their energy bills.

The scheme was criticised for being too complicated with only 1,754 houses signing up in the first round.

John Moylan reports.
