Labour 'in right position now' on budget surplus vote

Labour has withdrawn its support for plans to force future governments to keep a budget surplus, prompting anger among some of its MPs.

Shadow international development secretary Diane Abbott told the Today programme that the Labour party was now in the right position on the vote,

Interviewed by John Humphrys, she said George Osborne had "brainwashed the media" over the issue and that opposing the vote did not amount to "deficit denial".
