On patrol with Northumbria Police's domestic violence unit

The police watchdog for England and Wales says forces are on the verge of being "overwhelmed" by a surge in reports of domestic violence.

An Inspectorate of Constabulary report found a 31% rise in the number of incidents recorded by police over a period of 18 months.

Jeremy Cooke has been given rare access to the Northumbria Police Domestic Violence Patrol Unit.
