Rob Lawrie dodges prison after trying to bring Afghan child to UK

Rob Lawrie has spoken to the BBC about the decision from the French court not to send him to prison for attempting to sneak Bahar - known as Bru - an Afghan child from Calais, France, to the UK.

He faced smuggling charges but was found guilty of a lesser charge of "endangering life" because he hid the girl in an unsafe way in a van.

The girl's father had hoped she could be smuggled out of the the migrants' camp at Calais. Speaking in November last year he said he felt guilty that the man who tried to help his daughter could be jailed.

Lawrie believes his story has shown the human side of the refugee problem.
