A British adventurer has died while attempting to become the first person to cross the Antarctic unsupported.

Henry Worsley, 55, suffered complete organ failure when he was just thirty miles short of completing his 1000 mile trek.

The former Army officer was trying to complete the unfinished journey of Sir Ernest Shackleton.
