Councillors in North Yorkshire met on Friday to consider a planning application that could kick-start fracking in the UK.
Residents of Northallerton and the surrounding areas are divided, some concerned about the threats to farming and tourism.
The process for extracting shale gas was stopped back in 2011, after it was found likely to have caused a series of earthquakes near Blackpool.
