How to buy a healthy puppy from a good dog breeder

Puppy sales in pet shops and online should be banned to stop cruel practices in puppy farming, according to a new report looking at Animal Welfare in England.

MPs on the the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee (EFRA) say all puppies should only be sold directly by licensed and regulated breeders so that new owners can see what conditions the dogs are reared in.

So how can you be sure the puppy you are buying is healthy and happy? Claire Marshall spoke to Brenda Jones about what to look for when visiting a dog breeder.
