Novelist Jilly Cooper says footballers should be allowed to have more fun after midnight

Jilly Cooper, famous for her steamy novels set in the world of horse riding and the countryside, is drawing inspiration for her next book from the world of football.

She says the England team need cheering up, and takes issue with reports that the Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has banned his players from drinking and having sex after midnight.
