Footballer Derek Bell: ‘I wanted to kill my abuser’
Former footballer Derek Bell has told BBC 5 live that he went to his abuser’s house with a 12 inch knife, wanting to kill him.
The former Newcastle United player was abused hundreds of times by his coach in the 1970s, George Ormond, while playing for the Montagu and North Fenham boys football club.
Twenty years later, he saw George Ormond again, which he said “just blew his head”, and decided he wanted to kill him.
He then met Ormond again, secretly recorded him – and worked with police to bring him to justice.
